An investigation into an alleged fraud of employee benefits has led to charges against a Peel Region police officer. Peel police said the Professional and Standards Bureau launched the investigation in March. “Conduct of this nature is not tolerated by the Peel Regional police and any officer who engages in this behaviour will be investigated and charged appropriately,” police Chief Jennifer Evans said in a statement. Noel Santiago, who has been with Peel police for four years, has been charged with two counts of fraud under $5,000. Santiago is scheduled to appear at a Brampton court on Sept. 11.
