A Peel police officer who served as a use of force instructor for almost five years was charged with assault after a man was seriously injured during an arrest in Mississauga in May, Ontario’s police watchdog said Wednesday. The director of the Special Investigations Unit Joseph Martino said that Peel Regional Police Cst. Kevin Arnem committed criminal offences in the arrest of a 22-year-old man, the SIU said in a statement. The SIU added that the man was seriously injured during his arrest. Arnem served as a use of force instructor between May 2000 and March 2005.
