Pedestrian struck at Yonge and Lawrence dies


A 73-year-old pedestrian struck near Yonge St. and Lawrence Ave. on Tuesday has died. The pedestrian was crossing at Lawrence at around 9:30 a.m. when he was struck by a Hyundai Accent heading north on Yonge St. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. He’s the 16th pedestrian killed on Toronto streets this year. At this same time in 2017, there had been 11 pedestrian deaths, according to data from police.
