A man is dead after he was struck by a transport truck while as he was walking on Highway 417 eastbound on Monday night, OPP say. It happened on the stretch of highway near Carling Avenue at about 9:15 p.m., OPP said. He was not carrying identification and was not tending to a broken-down vehicle, police said. The man, believed to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. OPP are investigating.
