An Ontario fire chief was struck and killed by a vehicle late Friday night in Etobicoke. Pat Bourguignon, of Schreiber, Ont., was returning to his hotel from the annual Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs convention when he was hit at around 11:55 p.m. in the intersection of Attwell Dr. and Dixon Rd. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Bourguignon was a volunteer firefighter for 39 years at Schreiber, a township near Lake Superior, and had been the fire chief since 2009. The driver of the vehicle has been cooperating with the police.
