Officers were called on Friday afternoon to reports of an altercation in Peckham Rye, south-east London, Scotland Yard said. The London ambulance service and officers found a man, believed to be aged in his 20s, with stab wounds; he was pronounced dead at 3.51pm. Earlier on Friday a man was found stabbed on a bus in central London. On Saturday afternoon, Damien McLaughlin, 42, of Cheshunt, was stabbed to death in Enfield, north London. Police-recorded crime figures released this week showed a 13-14% increase in gun and knife crime in 2016.
