Peacekeepers caught in Mali crossfireFrom RUDD KONTE in Bamako, MaliBAMAKO, (CAJ News) – UNITED Nations peacekeepers are at the mercy of terrorists in Mali where two peace corps have been killed during an attack north of the country. The multiple attacks against the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Aguelhoc, left several peacekeepers injured. The members of the Security Council, the UN’s supreme body, have called on the Government of Mali to swiftly investigate these attacks and bring the perpetrators to justice. They underlined that attacks targeting peacekeepers may constitute war crimes under international law. All states have been urged, in accordance with their obligations under international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, to cooperate actively with all relevant authorities in this regard.
