The New England Patriots have finalized a two-year contract extension with the Super Bowl LIII MVP, as NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo first reported Tuesday. The remainder of Edelman’s previous two-year, $11 million extension, which was reached in June 2017, included a base salary of $2 million. “He’s a fighter, man, that kid,” Tom Brady said of Edelman following the Patriots’ 13-3 Super Bowl victory over the Los Angeles Rams. Brady, who turns 42 in August, is entering the final year of his deal and set to earn $14 million in base salary. If and when Brady signs the sixth contract extension of his Patriots career, lowering his $27 million cap number looms as part of the expected outcome.
