The New England Patriots applied the second-round tender on Jones, a restricted free agent, prior to the start of the 2019 league year. Instead, Jones inked his non-guaranteed $3.095 million pact for this upcoming season as a member of the Patriots, as ESPN’s Mike Reiss first reported. Jones, who turns 26 in September, is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent next March. It carried the league minimum for rookie free agents, with a base salary of $450,000 in 2016, $540,000 in 2017 and $630,000 in 2018. That youth influx could potentially make 2019 Jones’ last in Foxborough.
