Then suddenly even simple physical tasks, like getting dressed and walking up stairs, left her breathless. Doctors prescribed stronger asthma medications for Ms. Ramirez, which helped her for a couple of years. When she was given the diagnosis, Ms. Ramirez was told that there was no treatment for P.A.H. With new advances in treatment, however, Ms. Ramirez is now able to control her illness with daily medications and an inhaled drug. Ms. Ramirez tries to take advantage of each day and believes she is fortunate that her good days now outnumber those days she doesn’t feel well.
