Pathologist pledges book royalties to rescue helicopter

Life and death stories penned by Palmerston North pathologist Cynric Temple-Camp have helped keep the local rescue helicopter flying. Temple-Camp’s second book The Quick and The Dead was launched in the city on Friday with the author giving $25,000 to the Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter. Among worthy causes he could have chosen, Temple-Camp said the rescue helicopter stood out for him. His gift to the chopper service was accepted by Stewart Davies, a trustee for Phillips Search and Rescue, which operates the Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter. “So this contribution, in context, pays for about 12 to 15 missions.”Since its inception in 1991, The Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter has flown 9890 potentially life-saving missions.
