MANILA, Philippines — The municipal government of Pateros yesterday denied reports that a person with meningococcemia was hospitalized recently. Mayor Ike Ponce said a resident was rushed to a hospital on Jan. 4 showing symptoms similar to that of meningococcemia. “Contrary to reports on Facebook, meningococcemia is not spreading in Pateros,” he said. Ponce said the resident was reported to be in stable condition at San Lazaro Hospital though the illness has yet to be identified. He said the local government is monitoring the resident’s condition.
