Passengers on delayed GO train to get $100 from Metrolinx

For reasons of safety, hundreds of passengers on board were not permitted to leave the train, even after the power and air-conditioning died. Metrolinx will be compensating passengers who were stuck on a Lakeshore East GO train for three hours Tuesday with $100 of PRESTO credit. “As a gesture of their appreciation, your PRESTO card has been credited $100. Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins said the only other time the transit agency offered passengers this amount of compensation was during the 2013 floods, when passengers’ belongings suffered heavy water damage. Any passengers with proof they were on the train during the delay — be it a valid PRESTO card number or ticket — will be compensated.
