GEORGE TOWN: Supporters of a fledgling political party here surprised diners at an economy rice stall in Perak Road by telling them their meals were on the house. Malaysian United Party supporters Teoh Mei Ling (pic), 38, and Teh Eng Kang, 40, sponsored all of the dishes and rice for the day at the stall, which Teh owns. Teoh said they spent about RM3,000 preparing almost 300 portions of economy rice meals and soybean milk for the locals. Malaysian United Party secretary-general Kee Lean Ee said she was touched by the duo’s act of charity. The cost of living is getting higher and these free meals really mean something to us,” he said.
