The latest robbery involved a 21-year-old Spanish man who was treated in hospital for gashes on his right arm after he tried to resist being robbed by at least five people who are believed to be Pakistanis. Police recently arrested a gang of Algerians, aged between 16 and 21, who robbed Athenians and tourists at knife point, stealing wallets, mobile phones and cameras. In March the gang almost killed a 23-year-old tourist who stepped in when they were mugging his 19-year-old woman companion in central Athens.
