Published by Ryan Burrows at 2:22pm 14th June 2019. Part of the M27 will be closed for 24 hours from Friday night, affecting westbound traffic out of West Sussex. The motorway will be shut between Junction 9 and Junction 11 to allow Highways England to demolish a passenger footbridge in Fareham. The closure's in effect from 9pm on Friday to 9pm on Saturday. Planned 24hr closure of #M27 between junctions 9 and 11 at Fareham from 9pm tomorrow Friday 14th June #planyourjourney and follow @HighwaysSEAST for updates on their bridge demolition work and @ROMANSE for all the latest traffic info https://t.co/mqCncTQf3H — Hampshire County Council (@hantsconnect) June 13, 2019It's part of improvements being made to transform a section of the road between junctions 4 and 11 into a smart motorway - as the bridge doesn't give enough clearance on the hard shoulder to allow it to be used as a fourth lane.
