Nyamira Senator Mong’are Okong’o yesterday asked the Auditor General and the EACC to probe claims that the parliamentary commission is plotting a “grand robbery of” Sh1 billion. Mong’are said the Parliamentary Service Commission has been prevailing upon Senate Clerk Jeremiah Nyegenye, PSC secretary and accounting officer, to have a clause of its Act changed to reduce his powers of oversight over the finances to execute the scheme. He said the PSC, chaired by National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, has muzzled the Senate through overt and covert tactics to ensure it lacks powers over the financial affairs of the commission. “I am calling on the Auditor General and other oversight organs to move with speed and investigate the plot by the PSC,” he said.
