Officials say the animal was moving toward private grazing land and posed a safety risk to the public and to livestock. BANFF, ALTA.—Parks Canada says it has killed one of two bison bulls that wandered away from Banff National Park. Parks Canada says it made every effort to coax the bull back to the national park, where a herd of bison was allowed to roam free earlier this month. Officials say the decision to euthanize the animal was also made to uphold commitments made to the Alberta government and other stakeholders as part of a plan to reintroduce bison to the park. Parks Canada says it continues to monitor the second bison bull that doesn’t pose a safety risk and efforts to get it back to the park continue.
