Park bench printed in Hamilton heralds possibility of 3D printed houses


Concrete houses created using 3D printing technology is being touted as a possible remedy to New Zealand’s housing crisis. Hamilton-based company QOROX​ had been recruited by the city council to create a stylised park bench using 3D-printed concrete. Tom Lee/Stuff A segment of a stylised concrete bench is printed during a public demonstration in Hamilton's Garden Place. Quick-drying concrete, using active compounds imported from Europe, are used in the 3D-printing process, allowing the concrete to set in five minutes. The 3D printed park bench will remain in Garden Place until early 2021 and then be moved to Hayes Paddock as part of a playground upgrade.
