One of Paris' main train stations was partially evacuated on Monday after a soda-making machine in a passenger's bag exploded. Gare de Lyon station was partially evacuated after the explosion - which it was quickly established was caused by the explosion of a gas canister in a SodaStream machine in a passenger's luggage. The loud noise caused panic among passengers in the station, which was very crowded as people set out to travel over the holidays. No-one was hurt and the explosion - which happened at around 11.45am in Hall 1 of the station - had only a 'minor impact' on train services, according to SNCF. The Christmas and New Year period is always busy on French railways, with SNCF saying that it has sold 5 million tickets over the two-week holiday period.
