The Ministry of Education has directed headteachers not to charge any fees for Grade 7 learners in public schools. “We worked on a figure which is closer to that of senior secondary school and the President accepted,” Education CS Ezekiel Machogu said. Machogu directed that parents only pay for uniforms which will be changed in Junior Secondary Schools. The grade 7 learners will report to school on January 30, 2023. According to the Basic Education Act, Public schools should not charge any school fees because the government gives capitation for every student.
