KUALA LUMPUR: Parents of a one-month-old baby who was diagnosed with a heart defect are desperately seeking to raise RM40,000 from the public for him to undergo a heart operation. Awang Afiq Rayyan has coarctation of the aorta – a narrowing of the aorta – which needs to be repaired. Afiq who is from Kuching, Sarawak, is now in the intensive care unit of Gleneagles Hospital in Ampang. The baby’s mother, Ractna Seridewie Binti Rahmat, 22, said her one wish was for her son to undergo the operation as soon as possible. “He was immediately transferred to the intensive care unit and has been given oxygen support until now,” said Ractna.
