OPINION: Some years ago the University of New South Wales created a special courses for gifted children of school age. If a school decided that your child was “gifted” then they were invited to attend these special courses, at considerable cost. They would also get branded with a “gifted” title, which some parents would no doubt enjoy, especially if they felt that their child’s achievements reflected upon them. What a great business model – nearly as good as being the purveyor of an addictive substance such as coffee. So long as they pay, pay, pay, then pass.
