A parachute was seen as a light aircraft thought to be carrying two people crashed near a UK town. Emergency services rushed to farmland close to the M62 in Littleborough, Rochdale, shortly after 11am today. The model of plane is known to deploy a parachute system and images circulating on social media appear to show a yellow parachute canopy caught in a nearby pylon. A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “Emergency services are responding to reports of a light aircraft crash in the Littleborough area. "There wasn't any noise, I didn't hear anything but there is a huge yellow parachute.
