MANILA, Philippines — Parañaque hacked out a thrilling 88-84 escape over CamSur in overtime to storm to a share of the lead in the National Basketball League Philippines at the Olivarez College gym in Sucat over the weekend. Noy Bermudes shot 19 points, while Albert Almaden backed him up with 17 points and eight rebounds as the Parañaque Aces tied the Taguig Generals at the helm at 2-0. In other results, Nueva Ecija, Laguna, and Bulacan bounced back from opening game setbacks after turning back separate rivals. Edjie Jejillos scored 24 points, including the go-ahead triple as the Nueva Ecija Go Bespren overcame an 18-point deficit to stun the Rizal Spartans, 83-81, also at the Olivarez Gym. The Bulacan Makabayan, meanwhile, drew 26 points from JC Foronda as they toppled the Dasmariñas Ballers, 92-84.
