The Hills general manager Brendan Allen on the site of a proposed nine-hole golf course near Arrowtown. Sir Michael Hill hopes to build a nine-hole, par-three golf course near Arrowtown, inspired by a similar nine-holer beside Augusta National Golf Club course in the United States. With his championship course The Hills co-hosting the annual New Zealand Open, the proposed course could be used for a pre-tournament shoot-out in the same way Augusta’s short course hosts a par-three contest before the US Masters each year. Sir Michael said he aimed "to build the best par-three course possible". Instead, the grass between tees and greens would be cut to golf course height, rather than paddock height.
