Paper evaluation: Count rises despite glitches, so does pay

Technical delays and glitches continued to affect teachers evaluating papers on Mumbai University's second non-instructional day. Despite the issues, 1.05 lakh papers were evaluated and moderated on Tuesday with 5,500 teachers assessing the papers. On Tuesday, the university cleared the pending decision to increase the remuneration of teachers for the evaluation work with a view to motivate teachers. This would motivate teachers to work hard on the evaluation," said an MU official. As per the new norms, teachers would be paid Rs 16 instead of Rs 8 per paper for undergraduate evaluation.
