Papanui Club stalwart Tony Baillie stood down last Wednesday as the club's board met to discuss its investigation into his partner, Christine Painter, who has worked as a bar manager at the club for about six years. Supplied Tony Baillie has stood down as president of the Papanui Club. The Papanui Club suffered significant damage to its Sawyers Arms Rd building in the February 2011 earthquake. Papanui Club Head Guardian Gwen Creedon said Baillie's resignation had been a shock and rumours were now rife.
