CHENNAI: Former Tamil Nadu chief minister O Panneerselvam 's son and brother have rushed to the Madras high court with an anticipatory bail petition, fearing arrest in connection with a rioting and criminal intimidation case registered against them by the R K Nagar police.O P Ravindranath Kumar, who has filed the petition jointly with his uncle O Raja, said police had foisted the case on them due to malaise and political vendetta since his father Panneerselvam had gained more popularity among AIADMK party cadre and electorate in R K Nagar constituency as compared to rival AIADMK party leader and its deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran.According to police, a complaint has been lodged against the two that they along with some other people attacked a party worker owing allegiance to Dhinakaran in R K Nagar, where a byelection will be held on April 12.Reiterating that the case has been filed at the instance of Dhinakaran in order to defame Panneerselvam, the petitioners said they were not at the place on April 6, as mentioned in the first information report.The petition is expected to be taken up for hearing by Justice S Baskaran on Monday.
