Our BureauCalcutta: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday formed a committee with chief secretary Malay De as the head to develop a "mechanism" to stop the supply of rotten meat and stem the panic among people. "People have stopped having meat after this rotten meat supply chain came to light. A part of the of processed meat from the cold store in Narkeldanga would find its way to eateries in the New Market area, Biswanath Ghorui, the key accused in the rotten meat supply chain, has apparently told cops. The chief minister decided to set up the committee ahead of the rural polls for two reasons, some of the officials claimed. This is why the chief minister is desperate to restore peoples' faith in meat at the earliest," an official said.
