Pandemic sees sales triple for Cape Breton Food Hub

Alicia Lake, who manages the non-profit Cape Breton Food Hub, said their customer base more than doubled in 2020. Alicia Lake runs the Cape Breton Food Hub Co-op, which connects local food producers with consumers via weekly food requests. This sign has been posted in a food hub member's door throughout the pandemic. Elodie Nasone and her partner, Bart Pennewaert, are shown at their stall inside the Cape Breton Farmers' Market in Sydney. The co-op purchased the building money from Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Invest Nova Scotia, Cape Breton Partnership and private donors.
