Sales and new supply failed to individually cross the 1,000 mark, says reportThe second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has had an adverse impact on the housing market in Chennai, with sales and new supply both failing to individually cross the 1,000 mark. In the second quarter, places like Porur, Siruseri, Tiruvallur, Pallikaranai and East Tambaram saw maximum new supply. Of the total sales, 40% were concentrated in the ₹45 lakh to ₹75 lakh price bracket. “While the impact remained largely the same on most markets, some were more vulnerable to the second wave of the pandemic because of being at the centrestage of activity. It stood at 37,697 units in the first quarter of 2021.
