a new tracing app intended to fight the pandemic will be launched next Monday, and the authorities said that the application would work even without mass downloads. The minister added that industries such as transportation, beauty, catering and retail all welcome the tracing app, expecting over 6,000 locations and 18,000 taxis will participate in the initiative. The “Leave Home Safe” app, developed by the Hong Kong government, allows the public to record places they have been by scanning the QR codes or inputting the license plate number of taxis. Notifications will be sent to users if there are confirmed infections at locations they have recently visited. Users also need not to provide their names when registering for the app.
