The Tamil Nadu Police have booked the district secretary after he kicked a farmer during a Gram Sabha meeting at Pillaiyarkulam panchayat in Srivilliputhur taluk in Virudhunagar district. While the farmer was speaking at the meeting, Thangapandian walked up to him, kicked him in the chest and hurled insults at him. He also asked what action had been taken on the circular issued in August regarding transfer of panchayat secretary J Thangapandian on corruption charges. Triggered by this remark, while the farmer was speaking at the meeting, Thangapandian walked up to him, kicked him in the chest and hurled insults at him. Based on a complaint filed by Amayaappan, the police registered a case against the panchayat secretary under Section 294 (B) (obscenity), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 I (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
