Silver Fern Farms closed its Finegand plant on Wednesday as a sign of respect. A man who died in a crash in North Otago had been in Christchurch supporting family members in the wake of the city's terrorist attacks. Supplied Silver Fern Farms chief executive Simon Limmer said Mohamed Elmi was a valued staff member at the company's Finegand plant at Balclutha. "He was travelling back from Christchurch, where he had been to support and spend time with his family following the tragic events last Friday. Police said Elmi died in a single-vehicle crash at 4.25am on Wednesday, on State Highway 1 near Palmerston, north of Dunedin.
