MALACAÑANG on Saturday dismissed as “baseless” and “erroneous” a report claiming that President Rodrigo Duterte was “cultivating his own set of cronies” under his administration. “The Duterte Administration has constantly and blatantly condemned cronyism in our society,” Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said in a statement on Saturday. Not only are these baseless assertions erroneous, they are also highly deplorable,” he added. Duterte had assailed the concession agreements with Maynilad Water Services Inc. and Manila Water Co., claiming that the deals were onerous. “This undermines any form of possible corruption and bribery as we bring out in the open our transactions for public scrutiny,” Andanar said.
