MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Thursday announced the suspension of government work nationwide on Dec. 26, 2017 and Jan. 2, 2018 in observance of the Christmas and New Year holidays. Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea made the announcement through Memorandum Circular 37, dated December 13 and released Thursday.."Further to Proclamation Nos. SC said Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno authorized the suspension of work to allow officials and employees of thr judiciary adequate opportunity to celebrate the holidays with their families. The Palace said the private sector and independent commissions of bodies would not be covered, adding that suspension of work is subject to the discretion of employers or management.
