Pakistan's security situation has further deteriorated as the country fights a relentless rise in terrorist attacks by militant groups, active in the volatile northwestern and southwestern regions, according to a media report citing data from a prominent think tank. ADVERTISEMENTThe think tank stated that there were 99 attacks across the country, the highest in a month since November 2014. The attacks resulted in the deaths of 112 civilians and security forces personnel while 87 were injured. The data showed a month-on-month increase of 83 per cent, compared to 54 attacks reported in July. Overall, the country witnessed 22 suicide attacks in the first eight months of 2023, in which 227 people were killed and 497 injured.
