Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has taken suo moto notice of the Multan revenge rape case. In that incident, a village council or Panchayat ordered the rape of a 16-year-old girl because her brother had raped a 12-year-old girl. Police officers have arrested 20 members of a village council including its head for allegedly sanctioning the rape of a teenage girl in central Pakistan. A horrific incident took place in Multan's Muzaffarabad locality last week when members of a panchayat (council of elders) ordered the rape of a 16-year-old girl as punishment for a rape allegedly committed by her brother. The panchayat then ordered the complainant to rape the 16-year-old sister of the accused in revenge.
