The incident involving the alleged kidnapping and forced conversion of a lady Sikh teacher on August 20 in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, has been brought up with the Pakistani administration. The Center has expressed its “deep worries at such a startling and disgusting act,” according to Jaishankar in a response to the National Minorities Commission (NCM). “The GoI has also expressed its hopes that the Pakistani government will conduct a thorough investigation and take decisive action against anyone accountable for this atrocity. Pakistan has also been urged to safeguard the welfare and safety of the citizens of minority communities, particularly their places of worship, the EAM added in its response. According to reports, the Sikh woman was abducted at gunpoint and forcibly wedded to her kidnapper in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Buner area.
