A COUPLE of years ago, when Pakistani actor Adnan Siddiqui watched the movie Pinjar, based on Amrita Pritam’s famous novel by the same name, he knew his search was over. Speaking to The Indian Express from Lahore, Siddiqui says: “Pinjar fitted the bill. “Unfortunately, both in India and Pakistan, har cheez TRP pe ruk gayi hai (everything stops when it comes to TRP). While Mufti cautioned Siddiqui about the big canvas of the period drama, TV One said even if the serial was not better than the movie Pinjar, it should be as good. In 2004, the movie Pinjar, featuring Manoj Bajpayee and Urmila Matondhkar, won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration.
