Pakatan's manifesto impractical, says Liow - Nation

RAUB: Pakatan Harapan's promise to remove the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in its manifesto may sound good but it is impractical, says Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai. "The manifesto sounds good but it is impractical, especially the pledge to abolish GST," The MCA president told reporters after the "Maju Bersama Negaraku" programme here Sunday (March 11). "But Pakatan wants to abolish GST and bring back the less efficient Sales and Services Tax (SST)," he said. Liow also pointed out that up to RM42bil in GST tax revenue was collected, while the SST collection only amounted to about RM17bil. "Tax revenue from GST can be used to better fund the construction of infrastructure and development, which can benefit the people.
