PETALING JAYA: MCA Youth has hit out at the Pakatan Harapan government for imposing a new tax on imported used cars. Its chief Nicole Wong questioned if the move was made to protect the proposed third national car. She said imposing a tax of between 20% and 39% on imported used cars effective March 1, as reported, would only discourage Malaysians from buying foreign-made cars. "Without a doubt, this move will further drive foreign investments away from Malaysia," she said, chiding the government for denying the people the right to own foreign-made cars. She also took a swipe at the Pakatan Harapan government for backtracking on its promise not to abuse public funds.
