Pak assembly passes resolution on Quasem’s execution

In the resolution, Pakistan reiterated its earlier allegation that the execution of the Jamaat leader was contrary to the tripartite agreement signed by Pakistan, India and Bangladesh in 1974. MP Sher Akbar Khan on Wednesday moved for the resolution before it was adopted by the assembly, presided over by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, said a bulletin of Radio Pakistan. Earlier, Bangladesh Foreign Ministry had summoned acting High Commissioner of Pakistan Samina Mehtab and hand over to her a strong protest letter for the comment of Islamabad on the execution of Mir Quasem Ali. The International Crimes Tribunal sentenced Mir Quasem Ali to death for planning, instigating and executing genocide, murder, and torture among other crimes in Chittagong during the Liberation War of Bangladesh. He was hanged on September 3 at Kashimpur Jail-2.
