A police spokesman said the pair rang for help about 4.20pm after becoming concerned for their safety in Wye Creek, a valley in The Remarkables range about 15km south of Frankton. A helicopter was put on standby to rescue the pair, but firefighters walked up a track and guided them to safety about 5.30pm. The spokesman did not know the gender of the two people or where they were from.
