KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development is advocating extending paid paternity leave for civil servants in the country. “If longer paternity leave can promote closer bonds in the family, result in the parents being more productive when they return to work, and promote a healthy and secure community, then that (longer paternity leave) is something the Government can pick up,” she added. Azizah however said that the proposal to extend paternity leave for civil servants in the country would take time to be studied. The “Swedish Dads” and “Malaysia Dads” exhibitions were organised by the Swedish Embassy in Malaysia and Ikea Malaysia, and will run until March 31, 2018. The “Malaysia Dads” exhibition meanwhile was borne out of the Malaysia Dads photo competition held by Ikea Malaysia and the Swedish Embassy to celebrate the introduction of the one-month paid paternity leave for Ikea Malaysia's employees.
