MURCIA, Negros Occidental, Philippines — Juvic Pagunsan overcame an early miscue with a kind of rebound only a player of his caliber could dish out, shooting six birdies and an eagle to go from one-down to four-up over erstwhile joint leaders Rufino Bayron and Spain’s Marcos Pastor in moving day in the ICTSI Bacolod Golf Challenge here yesterday. The former Asia’s No. 1 put on an awesome display of shotmaking and iron play and bucked a pair of missed birdie chances from close range with a long putt from 30-feet for eagle on No. 15 that spiked his 32-31 card, putting the Japan PGA Tour-based shotmaker way ahead of the pack at 196 after 54 holes and closer to a romp right in his return to the Philippine Golf Tour. “I was so focused and my driving was pretty solid,” said Pagunsan, who capped his eagle feat with back-to-back birdies in the next two inside 12 feet.
