AS tropical depression “Domeng” maintains its strength, another weather disturbance was spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the state-run weather bureau said Thursday. The tropical storm with international name “Ewiniar” was 1,175 kilometers west of Basco, Batanes as of 8 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said. It packs maximum sustained winds of up to 65 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 80 kph as it moves east at 5 kph. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and Visayas will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains because of the southwest monsoon. Meanwhile, Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers caused by localized thunderstorms.
