KUCHING: DAP's Padungan assemblyman Wong King Wei has quit the party with immediate effect, citing disillusionment with the party's direction and management. He also said he would not defend his seat in the coming state election and would serve as an independent assemblyman until the dissolution of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly. "With that, I am now partyless, and will remain as an independent assemblyman until the end of my tenure as an elected representative," he said. In his statement, Wong said DAP had "totally deviated" from its aims, objectives and struggle of its earlier days when he joined in 2006. He said the party lost its opportunity to realise its dreams into action while in government at Federal level.
