Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route were halted around 4:30am after the fog drastically reduced visibility but was resumed around 10am, said BIWTA Daulatdia Ferry Port Assistant Manager Khorshed Alam. Seven ferries had been halted mid-route and over 300 vehicles had waited to cross at Daulatdia port, Alam said. The Shimulia-Kaorakandi route was halted around 2:30am to prevent accidents and was reopened around 10:50am, said BIWTA Shimulia Port Assistant Manager Shah Newaz Khaled. Eight ferries carrying many vehicles were stuck mid-route but were able to complete the trips after the fog lifted and visibility improved, Khaled said. But heavy fog often slows or halts ferry service in winter.
